Traditional metal braces have been around the longest and are the tried-and-true approach to correcting many orthodontic problems that exist in your mouth.

Metal Braces Correct:

  • Crooked or crowded teeth
  • Issues with food consumption
  • Issues with speech
  • Jaw joint disorders
  • Overbites
  • Underbites
  • Malocclusions

Metal Braces Application - What To Expect?

An orthodontic evaluation must occur before any orthodontic recommendations are made. This will give our metal braces orthodontist, Dr. Steve Ngo, more insight into your mouth. The evaluation may include a clinical dental examination, dental X-rays, impressions of your teeth, and photos of your teeth and face.

The actual procedure of applying metal braces involves metal brackets that are bonded to each individual tooth. The brackets are then connected to each other using an arch wire, which applies pressure. This wire must be periodically adjusted to keep the pressure consistent, allowing the teeth to straighten and re-aligning the jaw. Elastics may be applied for added pressure.

Cost of Metal Braces in Orange County

While they are not the most appealing option, traditional metal braces happen to be the most cost-effective option boasting great results. They are also the most common braces option for teenagers & children. We do not disclose our prices online as they are subject to change based on your treatment plan.

However, we will gladly discuss pricing concerns with you during your orthodontic consultation. Dr. Steve Ngo works with his patients to supply a treatment plan that keeps their budget in mind.

Metal Braces Concerns - Too Embarrassing?

Many of us think of unappealing images when we hear the word “metal braces”. Truth is, metal braces have advanced over the years and offer custom choices including color selection, great children and teenagers who want to impress. Metal braces today are also smaller and more effective, resulting in reduced durations.

However, if this is still a major concern for you then other options such as Invisalign® invisible braces (link) may be a better fit.
